Wildfire Fuel Reduction project in Spion Kopje area starts Nov. 19th

District of Lake Country contractors will be starting work on a Community Wildfire Fuel Reduction project in the Spion Kopje area, north of the Lakes Subdivision (Lake Hill Drive) and west of the new highway 97 project (Old Mission Rd.)  Contractors will be removing dead standing pine beetle killed timber and thinning dense stands, as well as removing surface fuel build up for the purpose of reducing the potential wildfire threat to adjacent properties.

Work will start on November 19th, 2012 and run through to March 31, 2013.  Hours of work will be Mon – Fri, 7am to 5pm, however some weekend work is anticipated.   Due to the nature of work and for the safety of the public and contractor, the public is asked to observe and respect trail closure signs during these times.

Questions can be directed to Steve Schaffrick, Director of Community & Customer Service, District of Lake Country 250-766-5650.
