The District of Lake Country is an active community, with access to a full range of essential and community services.  Below is a list of some of the service providers that new Lake Country residents may need to contact to smooth your transition into active life in the community.

Cable / Internet

Shaw Cable  (250-310-SHAW) and Telus  and Paragon Internet provide internet service in Lake Country.

Dog Licensing and Control

Dogs are required to be licensed with the District of Lake Country.  Licensing and Dog Control services are provided through the Central Okanagan Regional District.

Garbage & Recycling

Electrical service for homes in BC is provided by BC Hydro 1 800 BCHYDRO (1 800 224 9376)

Natural Gas

Natural Gas and other energy solutions are provided by FortisBC.  Two days advance notice is required to stop, start or move your service.  1-888-224-2710


Many properties in Lake Country have their own septic system.  Information about the Lake Country Sanitary Sewer System is available.

Lake Country’s water supply comes from various surface sources. Semi-annual water bills are sent to customers in the Spring and Fall and are due at the end of April and October respectively.  Find out more.

Three elementary schools (K-7) and one secondary school (8-12) are located in Lake Country as well as several preschools and child care facilities. Schools in Lake Country are part of the Central Okanagan School District No. 23.


The Lake Country Fire Department provides fire and rescue services in Lake Country and parts of Kelowna. The department is a mutual aid partner in the Central Okanagan Regional District.  In addition regional functions include auto extrication, marine rescue and rope rescue.


Lake Country is situated between two hospitals in the region: the Kelowna General Hospital and Vernon Jubilee Hospital. The hospitals provide emergency, surgery and cancer treatment services.
