Community Support Programs

School Resource Officer Program

The RCMP School Resource Officer started in 2010 in Lake Country and provides service and resources to schools within the District of Lake Country.  An RCMP member is assigned to each of the schools in the role of School Resource Officer to deliver safety and crime prevention lessons to students; act as a resource to students, staff, parents; enhance the safety and security of the schools; investigate offences relating to the schools; and crime prevention and community relations to meet the diverse needs of the residents in the school community.

Youth Restorative Justice Program

The goal of the Youth Restorative Justice Program is to repair harm and to rebuild relationships among people.  Participation is voluntary and the alternative is that charges may be laid.  The youth must accept responsibility for actions, and be remorseful; and parents and youth must have a positive and cooperative attitude.  This program is generally for a first time offence and must meet RCMP referral criteria.
