Business licence renewal payments are due January 31, and can be paid through some participating financial institutions in person or on-line, or by mail when there are no changes to an existing licence. Online bank payments have been expanded to included business licences and are available through some financial institutions. Use your account number as the payment reference number. Lake Country business licences are issued annually and must comply with Business Licensing Bylaw 699. If you own or operate a business in Lake Country (including a home based business) you are required to obtain a business licence from the District and have it displayed at your place of business.

Depending on the type of business you are wishing to start, your business may be required to undergo an inspection by the Fire department, Bylaw Enforcement, or other agencies (e.g. Interior Health). Once your licence is approved it will be mailed to you.

If your business provides services in more than one Okanagan community you may be eligible for an Inter-Community Business Licence for an additional annual licensing fee of $150. This allows you to operate your business in most communities without having to obtain a licence in each jurisdiction. Eligible communities include: Armstrong, Coldstream, Enderby, Kelowna, Keremeos, Lake Country, Lumby, Oliver, Osooyos, Peachland, Princeton, Penticton, Salmon Arm, Spallumcheen, Summerland, Vernon and West Kelowna.
