Deferment & Exemptions

Property Tax Deferment

TheProvince of BC has two tax deferment programs:

  1. Regular Program which is for property owners who are 55 years or older, a surviving spouse or a person with disabilities as defined by regulation.
  2. The Family with Children Program which is for property owners who are financially supporting, at the time of application, a dependent child who is under the age of 18.

Visit the Ministry of Provincial Revenue Property Taxation Branch to learn about the programs and their criteria and to complete the forms.

Property Tax Exemptions

Some properties are exempt from property taxes under Division 6 of the Community Charter. The District may also exempt certain properties by bylaw such as properties held by charitable or not-for-profit corporations.  Applications for tax exemptions must be made between June 30th and August 31st of each year to be considered by Council for the following taxation year.  View the Permissive Tax Exemption Form and the Permissive Tax Exemption Policy.  Application deadline:  4:30pm August 31
